The power adapter failure rate is as high as 17%. Is this really true?

It was learned from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that the second batch of AQSIQ in 2018 randomly selected 70 batches of power adapter products produced by 65 enterprises in six provinces and municipalities including Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Chongqing.
It was learned from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that the second batch of AQSIQ in 2018 randomly selected 70 batches of power adapter products produced by 65 enterprises in six provinces and municipalities including Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Chongqing. The spot check found that 12 batches of products did not meet the requirements of the standard, involving electrical insulation, creepage distance, clearance, in-line equipment, heating requirements, electrical strength, power supply for power adapter products for information technology equipment and telecommunications terminal equipment. Conduction disturbance of the terminal and telecommunication port, field strength of radiation disturbance, and energy efficiency limit value of no-load state, the failure rate is 17%.

This spot check is based on GB 4943.1-2011 "Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirements", GB 8898-2011 "Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Equipment Safety Requirements", GB/T 9254-2008 "Information Technology Equipment Radio Harassment" Limits and Measurement Methods, GB/T 13837-2012 "Limitations and Measurement Methods for Radio Disturbance Characteristics of Sound and Television Broadcast Receivers and Related Equipment", GB 20943-2013 "Single Output AC-DC and AC-AC External Standard requirements for power efficiency limits and energy-saving evaluation values, such as power supply interfaces for power technology equipment and telecom terminal equipment, protection against electric shock and energy hazards, grounding conductors and their connected resistance, electrical insulation, climbing Electrical distance, clearance, conductor termination, mechanical strength, in-line equipment, heat generation requirements, contact current and protective conductor current, electrical strength, abnormal operation and fault conditions, conducted disturbances at power terminals and telecommunications ports, radiated disturbances 16 items including field strength, average efficiency energy efficiency limit value, and no-load state energy efficiency limit value were tested,structural requirements for heat and electric shock protection under normal working conditions of power adapter products for audio and video equipment, electric shock hazard under normal working conditions, insulation requirements (wet heat treatment, insulation resistance and electric strength), fault conditions, impact test 14 items including electrical clearance and creepage distance, terminals, external cords, electrical connections and mechanical fixing, power supply disturbance voltage, disturbance power, average efficiency energy efficiency limit value, and no-load state energy efficiency limit value were tested.
